Money and the meaning of life

Money and the meaning of life
Unhappy and rich – the soul wants meaning, not money.

Some people believe that the meaning of life is to accumulate as much money as possible. However, when these people get their money, they often discover that money does not provide any meaning in life. Money can make life a bit more comfortable, but it cannot create meaning. The soul needs something else:

“If you are not following your real pathway in life, you will always be uncomfortable, and this agitation and uncertainty will haunt you because in your heart you know you are not going where you need to go, you are not doing what you need to be doing, and your life is not moving where it needs to move. Here no amount of pleasure or distraction or therapy can allay this discomfort, for it is a sign that your life has a destiny and that you must follow this destiny. Your commitment to this must be greater than love or money. It must be greater than the desire for wealth and security, even success as the world defines it.”
The Sacred Rendez-vous

While some people will pray to God for money, fame or power, they are really overlooking the greatest wealth that exists inside every individual:

You can go sit in a church or a mosque. You can go sit in your closet if necessary to gain the opportunity to be quiet and listen. What difference does it make to pray to God and ask for miracles if you cannot even respond to the wisdom and the guidance that God has already placed within you? It is like asking for something small and missing something great. God has put a perfect guiding intelligence within you. If you cannot experience this, if you cannot accept this, if you do not believe in this, what else can God do for you? Give you more money or a better job? Well, true, but you are still impoverished. Your spirit is still living in a state of poverty.
The New Message to the Impoverished and Oppressed

The New Message from God provides guidance, practices, and a community to help you find and discover the great hidden wealth inside of you!

Trying to fulfill yourself is so terribly disappointing. Only God can fulfill you and only you can fulfill God. God knows this, so God is not counting on anything else. You are trying to correct your life, rearrange your life, re-establish your life, and fulfill yourself through your relationships, your career and so money and the meaning of lifeforth. But it is never enough. Even if you have money, a beautiful partner and wonderful times, your longing will be even stronger than ever because it can only be satisfied by having a greater purpose in life.
Wisdom from the Greater Community, Volume I

There is an entire chapter (#22) devoted to life meaning and money in Wisdom from the Greater Community, Volume II. Here are some excerpts:

To look at money, you must look at yourself and ask some very important questions. In fact, eventually you will have to ask the most important questions, which are, “Why am I here? What do I serve? What do I have to give?” and “What do I want to communicate?” Until you reach these fundamental questions about your life, you will use money for a mixture of reasons, which will make your perception and understanding of it very confusing, and at times even contradictory. You will use it for survival; you will use it for pleasure; you will use it to impress others; you will use it to acquire things; you will use it to get rid of things. Money is a resource that serves your motives. It demonstrates what you value.
Wisdom from the Greater Community, Volume II

When we speak of your relationship with money, we are speaking about your condition of life. We are talking about your motives, which represent what you value and what you are trying to do. This is all based upon who you think you are and what you think you must do in life to secure well-being for yourself. So, when we speak of money, we speak of you in the deepest kind of way.
Wisdom from the Greater Community, Volume II

When we deal with money, we deal with purpose. When we deal with purpose, we deal with what people value and what people are aware of. Bringing people back into a real engagement with life, renewing their sense that they are here to contribute something, to give something of value and to leave an important legacy—that is the emphasis. Unless that is the emphasis, money will be a problem and not a solution. Money will be a god or a demon, a curse or a benediction. It will be imbued with magical and mystical powers, and people will be profoundly confused about what it is and what can be done with it.

Wisdom from the Greater Community, Volume II

Money, like intelligence, is a resource. If it is used wisely and directed properly, it can be used for a greater spiritual purpose, which will give it real meaning and value. In reality, almost everyone in the world needs to adjust their relationship with money because they need to discover why they are here and what they are trying to accomplish.
